90 Day Fiance Star Michael Ilesanmi Doesn’t Support Angela Deem’s Weight Loss Surgery

Reality TV

Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi are back for another season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After.  Viewers met the couple on 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days in 2018 and watched them get married in January 2020.

Angela and Michael quickly became 90 Day Fiance fan favorites.  Maybe it was Angela’s insecurities and controlling ways.  The endless interrogations of Michael that got him a cake in the face one time.  Not in the Rihanna way either.  The Trump boxers.  Unfortunately, the humiliation was all at Michael’s expense.  But he married her anyway, and now the couple are waiting to be reunited in the States.

It looks like Angela and Michael are going to be virtual for the majority of Season 6 of 90 day Fiance: Happily Ever After.  At least their dynamic is so entertaining they can pull off what most couples can’t manage together on screen.

Us Weekly shared a clip from the episode.  In it, Michael is trying to convince Angela not to go through with weight loss surgery.

Michael is adamant.  “Whenever we talk about this surgery thing, I always feel kinda emotional about it,” he told Angela, “you know I told you I don’t like it.”

Angela confesses that it’s the twenty-two year age difference that cause her insecurity.  “It’s not that I don’t care about what Michael thinks,” Angela said, “I thought that marrying Michael would make my worries go away, but actually, they’ve gotten worse. He’s gonna be 33, I’m gonna be 55. My skin’s going to change, and I’m going to start to look older than I am. And Michael is still going to be as young as he looked the day I married him. So if I’m not young, I need to at least look the damn part and it starts with my weight.“

Fear of infidelity is the driving factor in most of the couple’s fights.  But Michael is still reassuring Angela.  “You know I like big things,” he told his wife, “I love you the way you are.”

Angela promises Michael that she is, “still going to have big things.  We’re still going to have big boobs and I said I’m going to get me a big butt.”

Michael brushes the flirt aside and insists that the risks outweigh the benefits.

“I’ve tried to convince you over and over,” Michael explained, “people have lost their life getting this kind of surgery here in Nigeria. I feel she want to risk it all. You know, she just wants a quick result, so she had to go for the bigger surgeries.”

Despite her teasing, Angela cites quality of life issues as the main reasons for surgery including breathing issues that prevent her from being an active Meemaw to her grandchildren.

She labels it a life-or-death situation.  “I’ve always wanted to enhance my look for Michael because of his age, but this journey, you know, people need to know I felt like [I would have] died without the weight-loss surgery,” Angela said.

Angela had the surgeries in August 2020, and thankfully passed through the situation without incident.  The procedure consisted of 5 surgeries in one day, including liposuction on her back, gastric sleeve reduction, and a breast reduction.

The new season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After premieres on April 25th, and 8p.m.  Catch it on TLC.
