New ‘Resident Evil Village’ Concept Art Traces The Origins of Lady Dimitrescu And Family

Horror

It’s about that time for your Resident Evil Village fix. Luckily, IGN has a little something for you in the form of some new concept art for the upcoming Survival Horror ditty.

In addition to Village‘s art director Tomonori Takano sharing some concept pieces, he also once again dished on Lady Dimitrescu. To add to his previous reveal about her height, Takano has revealed that the towering vampire’s shoe size is 44 cm (17.3 inches), which is almost double the average women’s shoe size. Takano designed Lady Dimitrescu’s shoes based on a real pair of high heels, which he scanned and then digitally resized to match Dimitrescu’s height.

And yes, he provided a picture of the shoes.

In addition to shoes, Takano also talks about the origins of the villainess (in addition to the previous Morticia Addams/Elizabeth Báthory info), saying that the team initially had Resident Evil 7‘s Mia “and made her wear a dress and hat” in their early tests. “I thought that this would be enough to give her a ghost-like quality, but we couldn’t make her feel scary. Then, we decided to make the character model much larger. That was the beginning of Lady Dimitrescu.”

From there, Takano and director Morimasa Sato began developing the idea to create a castle environment for Dimitrescu, which originally was entirely populated by women. “The original concept was a castle populated only by women,” Sato recalls. “We tried a lot of different things in order to make the Countess scary and feel like a boss character. There were ideas to make her more creature-like as well, but in the end we felt that a towering woman was the most simple yet powerful thing we could do.”
