Rian Johnson Will Direct Two ‘Knives Out’ Sequels for Netflix With Daniel Craig Returning

Horror

Knives Out was a massive hit for Lionsgate back in 2019, pulling in over $300 million worldwide at the box office, so it was only natural that a sequel wouldn’t be too far behind. In fact, it was announced some time ago that a sequel was being developed, and now Deadline reports tonight that *two* sequels are actually in the works, with Netflix on board!

“Netflix is closing in on a deal to make two sequels,” Deadline reports. Daniel Craig is set to reprise the role of Benoit Blanc, with Rian Johnson directing both films.

Johnson is also writing both of the planned sequels.

Rian Johnson had noted back in 2020 that he was developing a sequel that would center on Daniel Craig‘s detective character investigating a new case, which is likely still the plan.

In the first film…

“When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.”
