‘Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver’ Temporarily Pulled From Steam For “Important Update”

Horror

While it could very well just be for an update to allow newer PCs to be able to play the game, Square Enix has nonetheless pulled Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver from Steam. As reported by VGC, the page is still very much there, but instead of giving you the option to buy the game, you now have a disclaimer saying “Square Enix has temporarily removed this title from sale to work on some important updates. Please check back soon!”

Regardless of the update, it’s still odd that Square would pull the game from distribution, especially since you can still grab it on GOG.com. Then again (get out your conspiracy boards), with Square Enix working with Forever Entertainment on an unspecified remake of another Square Enix franchise, you could make the guess that these two might be connected.

After all, with Legacy of Kain being one of those dormant franchises that fans have long wanted to see a comeback, a Soul Reaver remake is probably a good starting point. It’s still a lot of fun over 20 years later.
