Bravo Responds To Kelly Dodd’s Claim That She Is Returning To Real Housewives Of Orange County For Season 16

Real Housewives Of Orange County Kelly Dodd

Kelly Dodd has been a controversial figure on Real Housewives of Orange County, especially last year. Kelly made many incorrect and dangerous comments about the coronavirus pandemic.

All Kelly has done is repeatedly apologize, only to issue more tone-deaf statements. In April o2020, the RHOC star referred to Covid-19 as “God’s way of thinning the herd!”

Then, Kelly took to Instagram in to spread more misinformation. A screenshot of her comments was posted by iRealHousewives. This time, Dr. Dodd proclaimed, “It’s not a pandemic anymore!!” Seriously?

Kelly appeared on Watch What Happens Live and profusely apologized for all her coronavirus comments. “It was a stupid thing for me to say,” Kelly remarked. “It was insensitive and I apologize if I hurt or offended anybody, ’cause that wasn’t really my intention.” Kelly’s apology was much too little, and way too late.

She also managed to offend supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement. Kelly wore a hat proclaiming “Drunk Wives Matter,” which was a bridal shower gift. Kelly posted a photo in her Instagram Story, which was later tweeted by Housewives Addicted.  After all this blowback, Kelly was fired from her job with the sparkling water line, Positive Beverage. At least Kelly faced some consequences for her actions.

During Season 15 of RHOC, Kelly didn’t have much of a storyline other than her upcoming pandemic wedding to Rick Leventhal. The couple tied the knot on October 10, 2020. Additionally, Kelly feuded constantly with co-star Braunwyn Windham-Burke.

Kelly said that Braunwyn wasn’t really an alcoholic and dissed her authenticity. At this point, I am begging Kelly to stop being her authentic self. Please! Kelly stated that she won’t return to RHOC if Braunwyn does. Andy Cohen seemed irritated with Kelly at the reunion, which is always a bad omen for a Housewife’s return to a franchise.

Even Kelly thinks that there is a good chance that Bravo is taking her orange away. RHOC fans have been reaching out to the show’s production company to ask that Kelly be fired. Kelly hopped on Twitter in January to reassure the world that she wasn’t axed from the show. “No I am not fired!!! Contracts haven’t come out yet!” Yay?

In February 2021, Kelly discussed her status on RHOC. She tweeted, “It’s actually kind of funny…I’ve heard these rumors every year for the last five years. Looking forward to my sixth season #RHOC 16!” Well, Kelly may have spoken a bit too soon. After that, Bravo told Entertainment Tonight that they haven’t made any decisions about casting for Season 16. Oof.

The rest of the  cast, comprised of Braunwyn, Emily Simpson, Gina Kirschenheiter, Shannon Beador, and newbie Elizabeth Lyn Vargas may also be on the chopping block. In January 2021, writer Evan Ross Katz tweeted, “It’s time to cancel RHOC.” After that, Andy responded, “I think you mean reBOOT.” Only time will tell who is returning to claim an orange, and who is getting pink-slipped. My bet is on Kelly to lose her RHOC position. Finally.
