Teresa Depressed

As Jackie Goldschneider said during the premiere episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 11, Teresa Giudice has had a rough decade. Unfortunately, Teresa lost a lot of sympathy from viewers when she started spreading cheating claims about Jackie’s husband.

Prior to all that, she was just having fun on the show… for the first two seasons anyway. In Season 3, her family members Joe Gorga, Melissa Gorga, and Kathy Wakile joined the show without telling her. They feuded for years. Then, she and her now-ex-husband Joe Giudice served back-to-back jail stints. Her mother passed away. Joe Giudice got deported. Teresa and Joe Gorga’s father died. She’s definitely had a lot going on, in the public eye, while raising four daughters.

Teresa told ET, “I was really depressed.” She explained, “I was really sad. I’ve been through so much.”

She recalled, “Seasons 1 and 2, I started the show, I was like, this is great. They’re just going to follow me and my friends around doing what I normally do.” That didn’t last for too long. As soon as Danielle Staub left the show, it got very personal for Teresa.

“And then season 3, that’s when the family came on. It was terrible,” Teresa recounted. She continued, “And then, all of the legal stuff. And then I lost my mom. I lost my dad. It’s been a lot.”

Teresa divulged, “When I started this season, I wasn’t in a good place. I had lost my dad. So yeah, it’s hard. It’s like, I miss them tremendously. It sucks. He missed my mom and he wanted to be with my mom, which I totally understand. And then I do really feel in my heart that my parents brought [boyfriend] Louie [Ruelas] to me.”

It’s great to hear that she’s been in a better place these days. Hopefully, Teresa’s awareness about her own mental and emotional struggles will make her more empathetic to others. It’s not likely, but here’s hoping.
