‘Silent Hill’ Composer Akira Yamaoka Teases Next Project Coming This Summer in Now-Deleted Interview

Horror

Fresh from his work on Bloober Team’s The Medium, composer Akira Yamaoka recently sat down with Middle East-based news outlet Al-Hub in a now-deleted interview to discuss his next project. Why was it deleted? Possibly because Yamaoka’s teasing was a little too on-the-nose for one publisher named Konami.

Of course, Yamaoka didn’t outright say that it was Silent Hill. But, it doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to get what Yamaoka was referring to. And the fact that the interview has been pulled makes it even more curious.

When asked by interviewer Mutlaq Al-Jraied as to when we could expect his next project to be announced, Yamaoka responded, “When, I wonder… I think I might be able to talk about it around the summer or so… (Summer this year?) That’s right… But I’m quite sure it will be the one you’ve been waiting for, Mutlaq.”

In case you need a recap, the Silent Hill reboot/remake has been going on for a while. Rumours of the title showing up at last year’s Game Awards notwithstanding, Konami has in one moment stirred fans up with Twitter, then promptly squashed hopes in another. Manga artist Suehiro Maruo also created a fuss with his Instagram about his potential involvement. And of course, Kojima has gotten in on the act.

But the question remains: Is it Silent Hill? Well, we’ll find out later this year.
