Sci-Fi Psychological Thriller ‘Returnal’ Delayed to End of April

Horror

In the name of providing extra time to polish the game, developer Housemarque has announced that their upcoming sci-fi action game Returnal has had its release date bumped from its original March 19 release date to April 30, 2021. Sony made the announcement via Twitter yesterday.

While the delay is understandable, the decision to release the game on April 30 can be seen as questionable for some. Not only will Returnal face competition from Nintendo in the form of New Pokemon Snap on the Switch on the same day, it’ll have to compete against other genre fare the following week, as Resident Evil Village releases on May 7.

Still, it’s safer to have this polish in place, rather than face the situation that CD Projekt Red experienced last year with Cyberpunk 2077. Returnal is exclusive to the PlayStation 5.
