Kenya Moore Addresses Kandi Burruss’ Shade About Charity Donation; Says “I Gave More Than $5,000”

Reality TV

During the January 17, 2021 episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, we saw the peaches come together for a wonderful cause. Kandi Burruss’ foundation, Kandi C.A.R.E.S, held a food drive to give out groceries to hundreds of single parent families. Good for you, Kandi!

Of course, Kandi’s RHOA co-stars came together to lend a hand. Porsha Williams, Tanya Sam, Kenya Moore, Marlo Hampton, and Cynthia Bailey showed up for the cause. Of course, Kenya organized how the ladies were filling the grocery bags and kept them moving. It may not have been her event, but Kenya was in her glory bossing everyone around.

Kandi thanked Porsha for giving $5,000 to the charity, but she didn’t thank Tanya, who was standing with Porsha. Awkward! RHOA newbie Drew Sidora popped in via Facetime, and Kandi thanked her for her donation. During a lunch break, Marlo handed Kandi a check for $5,000 on camera.

On September 12, 2020 Kandi posted a shout-out on Instagram about the grocery drive. “Yesterday’s @kandicares grocery pop up was amazing! Thank you so much to my @goodrco family that helped organize to make this event a success! Also thank you to my #RHOA fam for coming & making this event even more special,” Kandi wrote. “We were able to help so many families & that made my heart smile!”

Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported that Kandi was thrilled the event was a success. “I would like to do it again, so I would love for you guys to give a donation,” Kandi said to her co-stars during that episode of RHOA. “It would be nice.”

In her confessional, it was clear that Kandi wasn’t feeling the generosity from all of her  co-stars. “I’m really not supposed to put people on blast about their giving, but I will say some people aren’t as giving as I thought they would be,” Kandi stated. Do tell, Kandi!

Kandi didn’t thank Cynthia, Tanya, or Kenya on-camera, so does that mean they didn’t make a donation? According to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, when Kenya appeared on Watch What Happens Live, RHOA fans wanted to know about her charity donation. In fact, host Andy Cohen told Kenya that whether or not she donated to Kandi’s charity was the “number one question” that he received that night.

Kenya stated that she did donate to Kandi’s charity. She said, “Oh, well I did, and I gave more than $5,000. So, I don’t know why people assume that Kandi was speaking about me,” Kenya remarked. On September 11, 2020 Kenya even posted a photo on Instagram of her dancing holding a Kandi C.A.R.E.S shirt. “@kandicares was amazing today!!! Thank you @Kandi for allowing me to be at your service and share in your giving spirit,” Kenya wrote.

Way back in the day, Kenya was involved in another charity scandal. In February 2014, Kenya held a masquerade ball to benefit the charity Saving Our Daughters. It was held in honor of then co-star NeNe Leakes. The charity alleged that they didn’t receive any money from the event. Kenya issued a statement about the event. “I spent over $10,000 dollars to make the charity event successful, in addition to making a personal donation from the event as well as forwarding any and all donations collected,” Kenya said.
