Here’s how to fix the broken play button issue on Disney+’s PlayStation app stopping you from watching WandaVision. The show is now available on Disney+, launching Phase 4 of the MCU with a bold, strange new vision. Some fans will be forced to wait slightly for the show, however, as reported bugs delayed their viewing experience.
WandaVision is a curiously non-MCU-feeling MCU property by design, as the continued story of Scarlet Witch and Vision purposely guards what it really is in the interest of a slow build mystery. The first two episodes are more like traditional sitcoms, with strong Bewitched and I Dream of Genie vibes as Wanda balances remembering who she is with upholding her new happy world. It makes for a completely different pace to Avengers: Endgame where we last saw these characters, but as more episodes are released those ties to the wider MCU are going to start being a little more obvious.
The issue for some MCU fans who watch on PlayStation’s Disney+ app however is that the play button from the homepage didn’t work. The get around the issue, head to the search bar and find WandaVision that way. That will bring up an alternative landing page for the show that also includes the individual episode title cards that you can click into to watch. That method will circumvent the issue of the episodes tab being unavailable in the initial landing page. Thankfully, once you’ve done this, the episodes tab does appear from the homepage suggested content page for WandaVision.
Other Twitter users reported issues with European region apps on Playstation, which were solved by changing the language setting to English and then restarting the app. Some XBox app users also took to social media to report their own issues. These teething issues are not new, with fellow Disney+ show The Mandalorian suffering some similar issues previously. There is, thankfully, usually a workaround that means not having to miss out on the content for too long.
WandaVision is also worth the wait, though it may not be quite what MCU fans were expecting, at least to begin with. The first two episodes are consciously slower, only hinting at what’s really going on beneath the perfectly observed sitcom surface. There’s going to be a lot more pronounced emotion, even more of the Twilight Zone energy that’s buzzing around like the mysterious beekeeper’s bees and a lot more exposition revealed as the episodes come to Disney+. Let’s just hope that the issues that frustrated Playstation app users for the first two episodes don’t persist as more episodes of WandaVision are released.
