Bob Dylan Announces Box Set Featuring 1970 George Harrison Session

Music, News

Bob Dylan has announced 1970 (50th Anniversary Collection), a box set that includes his May 1, 1970 session with George Harrison. Together, they played nine songs, including covers and Dylan originals. Along with the Harrison collaborations, 1970 features previously unreleased outtakes from the sessions for Self Portrait and New Morning. 1970 is out on February 26, 2021 (via Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings); check out the tracklist at Bob Dylan’s website.

Dylan quietly released 1970 in limited editions earlier this month to extend his copyright ownership. He recently sold the music publishing rights of his entire catalog to Universal Music Publishing in a landmark deal.

Check out Pitchfork’s “The 100 Best Songs of 2020,” featuring Bob Dylan’s “Murder Most Foul” at No. 6.
