God of War may never make its way onto Xbox or Nintendo consoles, but that won’t stop console owners from being able to play as Kratos in Fortnite since his timely arrival in the game’s item shop. Regardless of platform choice, players can harness the power of Kratos on Fortnite‘s battlefield, but they shouldn’t expect him to have all the same abilities he had in God of War.
Both PlayStation and Fortnite teased Kratos’ arrival through audio logs left by Fortnite’s Agent Jonesy ahead of his release. Promotional images of Kratos in Fortnite were then leaked and reposted by several Fortnite leak accounts on Twitter. However, some players were still skeptical of the Fortnite x God of War crossover. Since then, rumors have emerged claiming Halo’s Master Chief will make his way into Fortnite this season, and even more farfetched rumors claim Metroid’s Samus will join the battle royale.
Lo and behold, Kratos has arrived in Fortnite accompanied by a flashy cinematic trailer from PlayStation to announce his arrival. Kratos is available on all platforms via Fortnite’s in-game shop, but players who purchase the skin and play a round of Fortnite on PS5 will unlock an exclusive armored style variant. Kratos will be in the item shop until 8 p.m. EST on December 4, and players can purchase his skin for as little as 1,500 V-Bucks. However, Kratos does come with a few bells and whistles players won’t want to miss out on.
For 1,500 V-Bucks ($16 USD) players can purchase their very own god slayer in Fortnite, but a few more dollars will get them the entire God of War set. The set comes with the Kratos skin, Mimir back bling, Leviathan Axe pickaxe, and Guardian Shield glider. These items can be purchased as a discounted bundle for 2,200 V-Bucks making players’ dreams a reality of becoming a God of War on a budget. Sadly, the $20 USD it takes to purchase the set doesn’t include his mythical abilities.
Fortnite Season 5 is all about bounty hunters hired to stop people from entering the Zero Point, and with the inclusion of Kratos, it’s hard not to think of who else would make a great addition to Fortnite’s roster. It would be amazing to see Kratos and Master Chief fight side by side in duos, and throw in Samus or Link to represent Nintendo in trios. Fortnite‘s Marvel season was pretty epic, but adding Kratos and the Mandalorian in the same week opens the doors for a whole new world of crossover possibilities.
