Izzy Wouters Shades Below Deck Stars Ashton Pienaar, Francesca Rubi, Malia White, And Captain Sandy Yawn

Izzy Wouters Below Deck Charley

Watching Izzy Wouters blossom on the deck team has been like viewing the formation of a diamond.  Since moving out of interior service on Below Deck, Izzy has stood out on her team.  She is very competent and professional, looks out for her colleagues, and has a hilarious personality too.

If it seemed like Izzy and chief stew Francesca Rubi were about to but heads, bosun Eddie Lucas is encouraging and appreciative of her.  If only “sunshine” crew member Shane Coopersmith could evoke the same feelings.  And while Izzy’s transformation could be the simple result of better skill placement, it is important to have good management.

After last week’s episode, Izzy went on twitter to share her opinions about Below Deck bosses of past and present.  This girl has been paying attention, because she has opinions about Captain Sandy Yawn and bosun Malia White as well.

It started with a tweet praising Izzy for her work on deck.  “Izzy is a different person working on the exterior,” the comment read.  One reply threw some shade at Francesca.  The poster wrote, “can’t help but think it has something to do with having a good and supportive manager.”

Izzy responded in agreement, “there’s many reasons but you ain’t wrong.”  It’s interesting to note that Elizabeth Frankini is also having issues with Francesca’s management style.  Bravo likes to cast at least one stew that needs a lot of coddling and positive affirmation.

But what would a season be on the franchise without conflict between bad managers and their subordinates, especially in an environment that favors hierarchy so much.  Izzy addressed the previous season’s bosun as well.  Ashton Pienaar famously berated deck hand Rhylee Gerber on multiple occasions, acting in frustration and rather than professionalism.

Izzy, referencing the time she taught Shane how to tie a line knot, tweeted, “see.  It is possible to teach someone to tie a bowline instead of demeaning and belittling them.  Ahem.”

Below Deck Mediterranean’s recent season had fans turn on Captain Sandy and Malia after the termination of Hannah Ferrier.  That was less a management issue than one of vindication, but Malia as a boss was pretty hard line.  Izzy implied that Sandy and Malia’s legacy from last season was a negative one.

After one followers tweeted, “you are killing it on deck!  So exciting to see a woman thrive in the deck dept on this show,” Izzy responded, “thank you!  Gotta repair the damage that was done on med.”

It’s interesting to see Izzy step up on deck and take care of her team.  She would make a great bosun.
