Japanese Survival Horror Game ‘Yuoni’ is a Deadly Game of Hide And Seek

Horror

Time to dive into more Japanese Surivial Horror with publisher Chorus Worldwide and developer Tricore. The teams have announced their new game, Yuoni, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The title is expected to hit Spring 2021.

In case some of you are wondering, Yuoni is the sequel to Tricore’s previous game, Yuoni: Rises, a visual novel that first launched on Steam in April 2019, followed by a release on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop in February of this year.

Yuoni is a first-person horror action game set in Japan 1990. Ai is a grade-schooler forced to play children’s games taking place in a world of permanent dusk. There, Ai’s life hangs in the balance as you are attacked by shadowy entities and otherworldly horrors. Eventually, these monsters start to make their way into the real world, where again Ai is in a fight for her life.

Being that you’re a fifth-grader, you have no real weapons to speak of, forcing you to resort to hiding. Luckily, the monsters are either deaf or blind, meaning that Ai must hold her breath while sneaking, or dash past them. Throughout the game, you’ll be searching for items to help you escape the dusk world. Just don’t forget the paths you’ve taken, or you’ll never make it out.

Those curious can expect to get a glimpse of the game soon, as Yuoni will be at Digital Games Expo 2020 today, at Akihabara UDX in Tokyo.
