Remember Lydia McLaughlin from Real Housewives of Orange County? Don’t worry, barely anyone else does either. Lydia tried, you guys. She tried to be interesting. She tried to be compelling. Hell, she even tried to make a comeback. Unfortunately for Lydia, the only thing vaguely interesting about her was her hair.
In 2018, Lydia quit the show in hopes of building her brand and starting her own reality television vehicle. Now in 2020, we’re still waiting. Glitter Town was to be Lydia’s new gig on Bravo with her glitter-flinging mother. The digital show was created in an effort to display Lydia and her mom “spreading joy”. Unfortunately the show might not take off. See, Lydia believes in God. She believes in spreading happiness. But she apparently also believes in spreading disease.
Lydia has three beautiful children and a happy marriage. She also has a cushy net worth of around $15 million. During her tenure on RHOC, viewers caught a glimpse into the life of someone with a moral compass. And with cast members like Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson skulking around, it was definitely a change from vulgar moments and naked wasted. That’s probably why we don’t see much of ‘ol Lyd anymore.
Lydia stays active on social media. She recently opened up her Instagram Story for questions. During Lydia’s forum, a fan asked, “How do you feel about the enforcement of wearing masks?” Spoiler alert, about the same way as she felt going into a drag bar. The Bravo Bitch shared screenshots on Twitter.

Lydia posted a large photo of a sheep wearing a mask and wrote, “There is no scientific data to support that masks protect you from Covid.” The CDC has stated masks offer protection to you and are also meant to protect those around you. It is a small gesture of compliance during a massive health crisis. Lydia continued, “I believe the masks main job is to remind us of the pandemic and perpetuate fear.” Note to Lydia, it’s not the masks perpetuating fear, it’s the current death toll of 1,405,572.
Lydia wasn’t done, “If you feel safer wearing a mask, you should wear a mask!” Do NOT ask sis her opinion on seatbelts. “In the same vein, it is your freedom to choose not to wear a mask and breath [sic] fresh air. This culture of ‘you’re killing my grandmother if you don’t wear a mask’ is propaganda not based on science.” Except that IT’S ALL BASED ON SCIENCE. What’s the deal with Housewives in the OC and their lack of love for academics? And if she doesn’t like science, is the Holy Spirit not enough to get her to mask up? Fun fact, John 15:12-13 says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” In other words, don’t be a total toolbag and help out.

Then Lydia, the Canadian, gave a nod to her interest in American history by sharing a photo of The Constitution of the United States. Oh boy, here we go. Lydia wrote, “Signed permission slip to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family.” Okay, well, We the People want you to wear a fucking mask or stay inside. Like much of the science on COVID-19, the disease has been passed through the prism of the divided social climate. Many interpret the findings of scientific studies based on their political leanings. Except the Rona doesn’t care what you think or how you vote.
It will be interesting to see if Lydia’s new show takes off. Perhaps in her journey to serve Jesus and spread His word, she could look around and see the suffering of those infected with COVID. Wearing a mask doesn’t make you a sheep and it doesn’t make you weak. It makes you compassionate. The Bible says, “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made,” maybe she needs to read that part again.
