America’s Favorite Houseguest winner Da’Vonne Rogers has taken to social media after Christmas Abbott announced a new podcast to address Big Brother 22: All-Stars drama. The fans watching the BB22 live feeds heard it loud and clear – and saw it in HD – when Christmas told the Committee alliance that she feared “getting shot” by Da’Vonne Rogers and Bayleigh Dayton for putting them up on the nomination block. There was truly no reason or excuse for Christmas to say that. The facts are the facts: Da’Vonne and Bayleigh have never physically hurt (or even got close to hurting) a single person on TV and have no record of doing so outside of the media. They did have superficial fights in seasons past, just like Christmas had on BB19, and just like most reality TV stars had at some point in their careers.

On Wednesday, November 18, Christmas Abbott took to Instagram to announce a new podcast series where she’d open up about her various Big Brother 22 dramas. Christmas said that she wanted to “have conversations” about her thought process in the BB22 house, while also claiming that she had a blast playing the game and couldn’t help herself if she got a bit too competitive on the show. During this particular Instagram Live, there was no acknowledgment of what Christmas was actually talking about, nor an actual direct apology, nor a detailed plan as to how she’d tackle the very complex topics that she seems willing to talk at length about on a new podcast.
So it is fully understandable that Da’Vonne Rogers – who won America’s Favorite Houseguest on Big Brother: All-Stars but was wrongfully accused of possibly being violent on the show – is not on board with Christmas Abbott’s idea to produce and record a podcast where she’ll have the floor to talk about her justifications behind certain statements that were already very clear to the audience. It is not a big secret that social media influencers launch podcasts in order to include the number of listeners on those podcasts on their media kits, which are in turn sent to potential marketing sponsors. They could also directly capitalize on these podcasts by including ads on each episode, but the absence of an ad is irrelevant to the overall value that they create by getting tons of listeners. It is very likely that an audio recording of Christmas addressing her BB22 drama will grab a lot of listeners. In a tweet (seen below), Da’Vonne told her followers: “Y’all better not let her gain a QUARTER for sitting in front of a camera apoloLYING.” Da’Vonne didn’t mention names, but this was clearly about Christmas’ Instagram Live announcement of her new podcast, which happened just earlier that day.

Da’Vonne has been in the Big Brother community for quite a few years now, and she understands how these things usually play out in the media. Ultimately, she doesn’t think that Christmas should be able to profit off of her “apololying” – which is a way of lying through a fake apology. The term became popular in the reality TV community when the fierce Widow Von’Du explained what “apololying” meant during one of her confessionals on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12. In the replies to Da’Vonne’s tweet, her fans seemed to unanimously agree that Christmas shouldn’t be allowed to get the final word on this matter, nor should she be able to grow her social media following through launching a podcast that addresses this situation.
Some casual fans may think that Big Brother 22: All-Stars ended on October 28, but this season is actually far from over. Nonetheless, it is pretty clear that Da’Vonne’s America’s Favorite Houseguest title speaks for itself.
