Blizzard’s iconic Diablo II hit the big 2-0 earlier this year. And while we’re still holding out hope for Diablo IV (whenever it gets released) to return to D2‘s style of gameplay, fans are still working on mods to improve the original Diablo II, such as Project Diablo 2. The mod is completely designed by fans, and looks to offer improvements to the title’s experience as if it never stopped development.
Project Diablo 2 makes a number of improvements to the original, such as reworking spells and rebalancing runes, skills and items, as well as quality of life improvements. The team also states that they plan to “take every weak or unusable skill” and tweak it to allow players to make fully-functioning builds around these skills, “opening up all kinds of options that didn’t exist previously”. There are also new endgame challenges, completely new skills, and PvP support.
In fact, the mod just kicked off its first season called “Awakening”, which began on November 6th. The server resets every four months, accompanied by new updates. If you’re looking to help the crew, you can chip in on their Patreon, or visit the team’s Discord.
