22 Brand New Horror Movies, Shows and Games to Be Thankful for This November!

Horror

It may not always seem like it but we have a lot to be thankful for this November. Sure, 2020 has been difficult as hell but at least we have nearly two dozen new horror movies, TV shows, video games and comics coming our way!

What’s more, the terror begins right now on Netflix! The Taiwanese TV series The Devil Punisher is now available on the streaming service, and it tells the distinctive story of a baker who fights demons on the side, and also somehow time travel is involved! Also premiering on Netflix on November 3 is Tasushi Ohmori’s new film Mother, about a single mother whose carefree life is thrown into disarray when her son kills his grandparents.

Meanwhile, over on VOD, Brandon Cronenberg’s new horror-thriller Possessor makes its debut today after a brief theatrical release in October. The science-fiction film stars Andrea Riseborough (Mandy) as an assassin who kills by implanting her mind into an unwitting subject and making them commit murder. In her review on Bloody-Disgusting, film critic Meagan Navarro called Possessor “a heady sci-fi film that brings serious levels of violence and gore.”

‘Blind’

Also on VOD on November 3 is Blind, the new thriller from director Marcel Walz (Blood Feast), about a recently blinded actress who begins to suspect she’s not alone in her Hollywood house. The film co-stars Sarah French, Jed Rowen and Caroline Williams.

Over in the realm of comics, November 3 brings with it the exciting premiere of Dracula, a new and faithful adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel, drawn to feature the officially-approved likeness of Bela Lugosi in the title role!

‘Dracula’

Head back on over to Netflix on November 5 for the premiere of Paranormal, a new supernatural television series from Egypt! The show tells the story of a 1960s scientist who questions his expertise when he experiences one supernatural event after another.

Then you gotta race back to the realm of VOD, where a ton of new scary movies are opening on November 6. Triggered – on VOD and Digital – tells the story of nine friends who wake up in the woods with time bombs strapped to their bodies, who discover they can extend their time if they kill each other.

And if that somehow isn’t dark and wicked enough for you, Brian Bertino (The Strangers) debuts his new thriller The Dark and the Wicked on November 6, a thriller about adult children coming home to visit their dying father and discovering something evil is with him. Meagan Navarro called the film “a volatile, frightening viewing experience steeped in nihilism.”

‘The Dark and the Wicked’

Meanwhile, November 6 also marks the VOD premiere of Mortal, the latest film from André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), starring Nat Wolff as an American visiting Norway who gains godlike, deadly powers. Mortal makes its DVD/Blu-ray debut just days later, on November 10.

And in theaters as well as Digital/VOD, the psychological thriller Kindred arrives on November 6. The film stars Tamara Lawrence as a pregnant woman who suspects her dead husband’s mother and son, played by Fiona Shaw and Jack Lowden, have sinister intentions for her unborn child.

You’ve got a few days off before the frights begin again on November 12, when Lingering (a.k.a. Hotel Lake) premieres on Shudder! The supernatural thriller tells the story of a young woman who becomes her brother’s guardian and uncovers a ghostly mystery in an old hotel.

‘Demon’s Souls’

And in the realm of video games, be sure to check out the remake of monster-fighting Demon’s Souls, one of the hardest games ever! It’s one of the debut games for the PlayStation 5 console, and it’s available on November 12.

One of the biggest releases of the month for horror fans is bound to be Freaky, the body-swapping horror-comedy about a teenager who winds up in the body of a serial killer. Directed by Happy Death Day’s Christopher Landon and starring Vince Vaughn, it’s a film that Meagan Navarro calls “a love letter to slashers and teen movies; but it’s also a comforting cinematic hug dripping in blood.”

‘Freaky’

Freaky arrives in theaters on Friday, November 13, the same day that the new horror-thriller The Giant hits Digital and VOD, about a young woman whose first love goes missing and returns a year later, right when a series of dead bodies are found.

If you’re more interested in the disturbing realities of murder, November 15 brings the true-crime documentary series Murder on Middle Beach to HBO Max. Madison Hamburg’s documentary explores the real-life, unsolved, violent death of his own mother in Connecticut, as he uncovers surprising secrets along the way.

And if you couldn’t get to a theater or drive-in to see The New Mutants a few months ago, or if you were just staying indoors for safety’s sake, you can finally watch Josh Boone’s superhero-horror hybrid on November 17, when it hits DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD and Digital.

‘Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist’

Shudder debuts a new documentary on November 19. Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist is about the Oscar-winning, blockbuster and controversial horror classic The Exorcist, from the perspective of director William Friedkin himself. Meagan Navarro says the film is “well constructed, but Friedkin’s strong presence makes for a narrator that sometimes comes across as unreliable.”

Over on Hulu, November 20 brings the premiere of Run, Aneesh Chaganty’s follow-up to the critically-acclaimed thriller Searching. The film stars Sarah Paulson as a woman raising a young girl in a wheelchair, who starts to suspect her isolated upbringing is more sinister than her mother (?) would have her believe.

And fans of stop-motion will want to head on over to Netflix on November 20, where Alien Xmas debuts. The new Christmas special from The Chiodo Brothers (Killer Klowns from Outer Space) adapts their own book, which tells the story of an alien scheme to steal Earth’s gravity during the holidays.

‘Alien Xmas’

While you’re in the Christmas spirit you should also check out Deathcember, a series of holiday-themed horror shorts from 24 directors all over the globe! The series debuts on digital platforms on November 24 before hitting VOD on December 1, and features new shorts by directors like Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), Lucky McKee (The Woman) and BJ Colangelo and Zach Shildwachter (Powerbomb).

Head back on over to HBO Max on November 26 for the debut of The Flight Attendant, a new mini-series starring Kaley Cuoco (Harley Quinn) as a flight attendant who wakes up in a hotel room with a dead body, uncertain of whether or not she killed him. And finally, on November 28, Netflix debuts the South Korean supernatural series The Uncanny Counter, about demon hunters who have secret identities as employees at a noodle counter.

Stick around, because there are more nightmares to come in December, and we wouldn’t be surprised if November has a few more shocking twists up its sleeve…
