The recently added JAK-12 shotgun is already being nerfed in a Call of Duty: Warzone patch, as it turned out to be extremely overpowered. General fixes included in the patch, however, are mostly focused on solving a handful of critical issues brought with the latest Halloween updates.
Thanks to the Haunting of Verdansk seasonal event, players were treated to a vast variety of content additions and Halloween-themed spooky festivities. One of the most exciting novelties is the Zombie Royale limited-time mode that sees players not only competing against not only other soldiers but also fighting with player-controlled fast zombies. To survive the unforgiving night in Verdansk, contenders need to be aware of plenty of peculiarities the mode implies. For instance, zombies are granted infinite UAV that reveals nearby living enemy players, which is a total game-changer.

The spookiest change of the Halloween season in Call of Duty: Warzone came from a small balance patch that is aimed at nerfing the immensely popular JAK-12 auto-shotgun, which was introduced to the game a couple of weeks ago quickly becoming a fan-favorite. YouTube is swarmed with straightforward tutorial videos that involve obvious spamming tactics and explosive rounds that deal splash damage and can be effectively used to hit enemies behind small covers. To become an absolute beast of a weapon, the shotgun desperately needs its popular Drum Mags attachment, which drastically increases ammo capacity. As such, this enhancement is an obligatory one to follow the most efficient strategies of handling the shotgun. Infinity Ward recognized the fact that JAK-12 was an unfair weapon – and introduced a few balance changes. To ease the pain for those on the receiving end of JAK-12, the team reduced movement and ADS speed with Drum Mags equipped, and also reduced the rate of fire on explosive rounds.
Thanks to the never-ending flow of updates and content drops, Call of Duty: Warzone remains fresh and engaging and also occupies increasingly more space on players’ platforms. Finally embracing the memes, the game has recently hit a huge milestone by growing over 250 GB in size. Interestingly, Infinity Ward finally made a handy addition to the game that allows players to uninstall any unwanted pieces of content on PC, thus reducing the installation size and keeping a bit of free space.
With the latest balance patch, Infinity Ward addressed popular tactics used to make the most out of JAK-12 in Call of Duty: Warzone shootouts. It’s not quite clear if these changes will be enough to nerf the weapon considerably while not making it unplayable, but the odds are that JAK-12 will nonetheless remain in most players’ loadouts for a bit longer. It’s quite possible that this has been just the very first step in rebalancing the weapon – so players should expect additional nerfs in the foreseeable future.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
