Blood of Zeus Season 2: Release Date & Story Details

Movies

Netflix’s Blood of Zeus season 2 can continue the show’s compelling story and deliver even more stunning visuals. Created by brothers Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, Blood of Zeus follows the story of Heron, a young man shunned from his village for being illegitimate, who discovers that he is actually the son of Zeus. With a thrilling and eventful first season, the series seems an ideal candidate for renewal.

Blood of Zeus centers around two central conflicts: the Greek gods of Olympus and their struggle against the giants, who were created by the Titans to destroy them, and Hera’s desire for vengeance against her unfaithful husband Zeus. As demons plague the Earth, deriving their power by eating the remains of giants, Zeus believes his son Heron can lead the charge to stop them once and for all.

However, Zeus’s increased interest in his illegitimate son infuriates Hera, who has suffered the indignity of his infidelities many times before. In her resentment, Hera seeks revenge, enlisting the help of the demon Seraphim, who has his own goals. The two conflicts begin to collide and reach a boiling point in the Blood of Zeus season 1 finale. Though the fighting ends, the costs are great, and the repercussions will certainly be felt in future seasons.

Blood of Zeus Hasn’t Been Renewed For Season 2 (Yet)

While Blood of Zeus season 2 has not yet been announced, fans of the series needn’t worry. Netflix often waits three to six weeks before renewing a show, which gives the streaming platform ample time to assess a program’s performance. Fan response can have an impact on renewal too, demonstrating audience demand and enthusiasm. With Blood of Zeus’ compelling storytelling and character work, a season 2 renewal may be likely, and a second season has many avenues it may explore.

Though there is no official renewal or release date, Blood of Zeus season 2 could arrive in early 2022. The show is produced by Texas-based Powerhouse Animation, which also produces Netflix’s hit anime Castlevania. Production is currently underway on Castlevania season 4, with an expected release in mid-2021, meaning the studio could produce Blood of Zeus season 2 by early 2022. With other Powerhouse Animation titles like Castlevania and Seis Manos available on Netflix, fans can explore other content while they wait.

Blood of Zeus Season 2 Story Details

The Blood of Zeus season 1 finale puts an end to the battle between gods and giants, meaning the world is safe once again… for now. While all seems well on Mount Olympus, Seraphim’s encounter with Hades indicates that strife in the world of the gods is far from over. With Zeus and Hera presumably dead, new leadership will have to step forward amongst the gods. Heron is a clear frontrunner for the job now that he has finally accessed his divine power by following Zeus’s words. His status as a demigod makes him, perhaps, an even more viable candidate to lead Olympus, because he has the ability to liase between the worlds of gods and mortals.

Of course, Heron’s rule is not guaranteed, and there could be a struggle for power amongst the gods in Zeus and Hera’s absence. Now that Hades has revealed his involvement with Seraphim and the giants, it’s clear that he could be making a bid for power as well. Blood of Zeus season 2 will likely explore this power struggle and the discord it will inevitably create among the gods. Seraphim’s fate, too, hangs in the balance as he is forced to submit to yet another controlling and abusive force. Seraphim could continue as an antagonist in Blood of Zeus season 2, but he could also be the subject of a redemption arc, as the show seems empathetic to his struggles. If Blood of Zeus season 2 does happen, it will likely explore a new normal on Mount Olympus alongside Hades’ growing ambition that is sure to be as complex and fascinating as its first season.
