Ben Wheatley is Directing ‘The Meg 2’ for Warner Bros!

Horror

The director of Kill List, SightseersA Field in England, High-Rise, and Netflix’s Rebecca, Ben Wheatley has been hired by Warner Bros to direct the shark attack sequel The Meg 2!

Now that’s an (unexpectedly) inspired choice!

The scoop comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter tonight, and the site also reports that The Meg star Jason Statham is expected to return and be “creatively involved.”

The script has been written by Dean Georgaris and Jon & Erich Hoeber.

Jon Turteltaub’s The Meg, based on Steve Alten’s Meg novels, was released in theaters back in 2018, devouring over $500 million at the worldwide box office. Jason Statham starred as heroic shark-slayer Jonas Taylor, part of a group of scientists exploring the Mariana Trench who encounter the largest marine predator that has ever existed – the Megalodon.
