Grimrukh, the mind behind the popular Dark Souls mod Daughters of Ash, is at it again with another mod. This time, they’ve pulled together a team of other modders to make something ambitious: a whole new game built on top of Dark Souls called Dark Souls: Nightfall.
From what Grimrukh has revealed on their website, Nightfall is a direct sequel to Dark Souls that again uses “expanded lore”, but aims not to “clash” with the established lore of the main game. The mod will also use a new world map built with existing assets, tweaked enemy animations and textures, and will feature a “faster-paced combat system”.
other modders collaborating on Nightfall include AinTunez and Meowmaritus, the latter of whom has shown off examples of modified enemy animations on Twitter. As for AinTunez, they’re responsible for the QuickSouls mod, which should give you an idea of what to expect with Nightfall‘s combat.
No word yet on when you can expect to play Nightfall, although Grimrukh does state that they’ll be looking for playtesters. And of course, they’ll be posting updates to their Twitter.
Finished a lot of the Azure Knight (Lance) custom enemy’s moveset, sounds, and visual effects. His AI is just random equal chance of each pattern right now but I’ll make him pick patterns more interestingly some other time I’m T I R E D pic.twitter.com/GlTKjog3MJ
