Lil Yachty Sued For Assault Over 2019 Rolling Loud Altercation: Report

Music, News

On December 15, 2019, rapper Lil Yachty and his associates allegedly got into a physical altercation with a man at Rolling Loud Los Angeles. Now, almost a year after the incident, Lil Yachty is being sued by a man named Jimmy Quivac, who claims he was assaulted by the rapper and his crew, as TMZ reports.

According to court documents viewed by TMZ, Quivac is suing Yachty for assault and battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Quivac claims that Yachty and his associates beat him as he was entering the Rolling Loud Festival. Quivac was reportedly alone at the time, attempting to weave through a large crowd standing near the entrance. He said he heard someone yell at him for bumping into them, and the altercation followed. According to TMZ, Quivac claims that Yachty punched him, and that Yachty’s crew kicked and stomped him while he was on the ground. The incident reportedly led to injuries to his arm, hand, and wrist.

In a video of the incident obtained by TMZ in 2019, a man that appears to be Lil Yachty gets in a verbal altercation with another man. The incident then turns physical. On December 16, Lil Yachty posted a since-removed video to Instagram recounting his side of the events that allegedly occurred before the fight. “Last night as I was leaving out the festival, a guy walked in the middle of my group of people and pushed me,” he said. “Not tapped me, like pushed me out the way, you know, screaming all type of stuff, you know what I’m saying, being very disrespectful.” He later added, “[The video] doesn’t show any of that… It looks like we’re just picking a fight. I’m not a problematic person, I don’t just pick fights with people.”

Pitchfork has reached out to Lil Yachty’s representatives for further comment.
