Season 14 of Real Housewives of Orange County was a tough one for Emily Simpson. She squabbled with her bestie on the show, Gina Kirschenheiter.
But most of Emily’s problems stemmed from her marriage to Shane “little bitch” Simpson. RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd christened Shane with the nickname, and I must say, it was well-deserved last season.
While Shane studied for the bar exam at a hotel, Emily struggled to work and care for their children alone. Shane refused to even text with his wife and berated her if she called. Emily threw a special birthday dinner for Shane’s parents, but Shane was too busy to attend.
For their 10th anniversary, Emily planned a trip to Las Vegas so she could perform a sexy dance for her husband in a dance review. Shane’s schedule was once again jam-packed with napping studying, so he declined. Emily hit the stage and performed for RHOC co-stars Kelly and Braunwyn Windham-Burke. I applaud Emily for embracing body-positivity and making herself feel good.

Emily said that watching footage of her marriage in Season 14 made her feel “nauseous.” Same, Emily. Same. And spoiler alert- Shane didn’t pass the California bar exam…again.
In December 2019, Emily shared that she had lost 15 pounds. Last season, Emily also coped with chronic pain from arthritis in her hip. Emily needed hip replacement surgery. As you can imagine, Shane wasn’t very supportive.

Well, Emily has a new hip and a new attitude! During the RHOC Season 15 premiere, viewers were treated to Emily and Shane dining out for their anniversary. Whew…Shane actually went to this dinner! The duo seemed less stressed and Shane seemed to pay attention to Emily for once.
In an interview with HollywoodLife, Emily explained that Shane likes her at any size. “It didn’t matter if I was 20 pounds heavier or 20 pounds lighter,” the lawyer stated. “He’s still very … he grabs my butt all the time and he smacks me on the ass all of the time and he constantly talks about sex all of the time, so I don’t think 20 pounds or 30 pounds makes any difference to him at all,” Emily stated. Congratulations… I think?

“He loves the curves no matter what,” Emily remarked. “I was probably at the lowest of lows last season. So I felt like coming into this season, I was a new person,” she shared.
“I felt better mentally. I felt better physically, and I just wanted to have fun with filming and not feel like I always had to be on the defense all of the time.” Now that “OG” Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge are no longer part of the cast, Emily should be able to relax a bit.

I really love Emily, so I hope that this season Shane appreciates her and treats her as she deserves to be treated.
