At the beginning of Genshin Impact, players are given Anemo or wind abilities which they can use in combat. Players can also unlock Geo abilities which can be used for combat and travel. While these are the only two of the seven elements that players can obtain right now, the developers have stated that they intend to make the main character able to harness all of the elements.
Genshin Impact’s main character is not from the world of Treyvat, so it is much easier for them to harness the world’s elemental abilities than it is for other inhabitants. The main character is practically gifted Anemo abilities after interacting with an Anemo Statue of the Seven. Paimon remarks at how easy it was for the character to gain those abilities, and states that they usually only grant themselves to people who are special. However, the main character also has the unique ability to harness the power of more than one element at a time. Here is how to unlock the main character’s Geo abilities in Genshin Impact.
Unlock Main Character’s Geo Abilities in Genshin Impact
To obtain the main character’s Geo abilities, the player will need to visit a Geo Statue of the Seven. Upon interacting with the statue, the player will automatically unlock the ability to swap between Geo and Anemo abilities. In order to swap from Geo to Anemo, the player will need to visit one of that said element’s Statues of the Seven and request to swap to that element. The closest Geo Statue of the Seven is marked on the map above. They are all located inside the continent of Liyue, and there are multiple other statues to visit, but only the first grants new abilities.
The player is given a new Geo elemental skill and burst. The elemental skill summons a Geo crystal from the ground that deals damage to enemies that are hit with it. The player can also climb and walk on the crystals which make them handy for traversing large bodies of water or other forms of terrain. The main characters Geo elemental burst causes a shockwave to shoot out from wherever the player is standing dealing damage to enemies and pushing them backward. While the main character’s Anemo abilities are arguably better, the Geo abilities can come in handy from time to time.
Genshin Impact is free-to-play on PS4, iOS, Android, and PC.
