Milla Jovovich will battle massive 60-foot tall monsters in Paul W.S. Anderson‘s upcoming video game adaptation Monster Hunter, which now has a teaser trailer. The first footage shows Jovovich’s Lt. Artemis busting out the big guns against a big ass creature.
With that, there’s even “bigger” news. Originally scheduled for September 4, 2020, and then bumped to April 23, 2021, Sony Screen Gems has announced it’s now targeting a release for this coming December 2020. This has (obviously) been penciled in as there’s no exact date and there’s no clarity on how it will be released. Sony’s international arm is powerful, so there is a world in which we see this as some specialty VOD release here in the States over the holidays while it opens in theaters in other countries. This pandemic has made it way too complex to try and understand, so we’re gonna have to just roll with it.
In the film:
“Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity.”
“When an unexpected sandstorm transports Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.”
The movie is, of course, an adaptation of Capcom’s video game series.
