Mandalorian Season 2’s New Cast Members Seemingly Announced by Disney+

Rosario Dawson and Timothy Olyphant have seemingly been announced as cast members for The Mandalorian season 2. The second season of Disney+’s hit series The Mandalorian is rapidly approaching and expectations are high for what it will deliver. Not only are fans of the show excited to see the ongoing adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda, but there have been a lot of rumors about some major Star Wars characters appearing in season 2.

The first season of The Mandalorian completely stayed away from including known characters, but that is expected to change. While Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), and Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) are all returning, rumors have been flying for months that characters from Star Wars movies, animated shows, and other canon materials will appear. However, Disney has not confirmed any new additions to the show’scast, with The Mandalorian season 2 trailer only confirming Sasha Banks’ involvement.

It now appears that Rosario Dawson and Timothy Olyphant can be added to the list of cast members for The Mandalorian season 2. The Instagram account for Disney+ Germany recently shared a video (captured by Kessel Run Transmissions) on its story that mentions Rosario Dawson, Timothy Olyphant, and Banks as new additions to the cast. The video did not confirm what characters they will play, although it is heavily rumored that Dawson will play a live-action Ahsoka Tano, while Olyphant plays a Tatooine sheriff named Cobb Vanth who acquired Boba Fett’s armor in a book.

Since this video does come from an official Disney+ social media account, this is the closest we’ve come to Dawson and Olyphant’s additions being confirmed. That said, other Disney+ social media accounts did not share similar videos, so there is still a chance that this was a mistake by the Disney+ Germany team. At this point, though, the mistake might just be confirming their involvement, as it will be surprising if neither Dawson nor Olyphant appears in The Mandalorian season 2. But, it is odd that the video didn’t also mention the return of Temuera Morrison, as his role as Boba Fett has seemingly been confirmed, too.

Now that Disney+ Germany has seemingly announced these new cast members, it will be fascinating to see if Disney makes it official prior to season 2. The castings could become official by a future press release or even if another trailer is released. The good news for fans is that it won’t be long before the The Mandalorian season 2 arrives. The first episode is slated to debut on Disney+ at the end of the month, and it is possible that Dawson, Olyphant, and/or Morrison could appear as soon as then.
