PlayStation Now’s September lineup has been announced, adding memorable games like Resident Evil 7 and Final Fantasy XV to Sony’s cloud-based gaming service. PS Now has been providing subscribers with titles from every PlayStation generation since it was first launched back in 2014, allowing players to enjoy them on either PS4 or PC for the price of $9.99 a month.
Although it has since gained some fierce competition in the form of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass recently, PS Now continues to impress with its new additions every month. For example, the service added such hits as Hitman 2, Greedfall, and Dead Cells in August, on top of gaining the likes of Persona 5 and Control throughout 2020. Even better, Sony has promised that PlayStation Now will continue to play an important role in the upcoming PS5 era and beyond, even as new services like last year’s Google Stadia try (and so far, fail) to match its success.

Earlier today, PlayStation revealed a small list of new games coming to PS Now in September, consisting of Resident Evil 7, Final Fantasy XV, WWE 2k19, and the 2019 sci-fi puzzle thriller Observation. According to PlayStation’s listings, Resident Evil 7 will only be available until November, while Final Fantasy XV will remain until next March. The expiration dates for the other two titles are still unknown at this time, provided they aren’t on the service permanently.
Released in 2017, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard served as a reinvention of Capcom’s horror franchise, shifting players’ perspective from third-person to first-person and trading the series’ trademark zombies for a murderous family in the American Deep South. Thanks to the game’s emphasis on genuine fear over the over-the-top action of the previous two numbered Resident Evil installments, Resident Evil 7 earned widespread praise among players as a return to form for the long-standing franchise even though it still fell short in terms of sales.
Meanwhile, 2016’s Final Fantasy XV told the story of Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum and his close-knit group of friends as they travel the world of Eos and battle to save their kingdom from darkness. Originally conceived as a spin-off to Final Fantasy XIII, the game was eventually reworked into the latest entry of Square Enix’s iconic JRPG series when production moved to the PlayStation 4/Xbox One era of consoles. As a standalone installment, Final Fantasy XV differs from the rest of the main franchise thanks to its open-world exploration and Kingdom Hearts-style real-time combat, the latter of which would go on to influence this year’s Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Both Resident Evil 7 and Final Fantasy XV will make worthwhile additions to PlayStation Now’s Catalog, although some players might be disappointed that the former is only available for a few short months. Still, PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to try out both of these expansive games when they are added to the service later this month alongside WWE 2k19 and Observation.
