Andrew Bird Reunites With Squirrel Nut Zippers on New Song: Listen

Music, News

Early in his career, Andrew Bird performed with the popular swing revivalist group Squirrel Nut Zippers. After contributing to a trio of their records between 1996 and 1998, Bird’s final appearance with the band appeared on 2000’s Bedlam Ballroom, after which he began focussing on his solo career. Now, he has collaborated with the group once again, as Stereogum notes. Their new song, “Train on Fire,” features Bird on violin and background vocals. Check it out below.

“Train on Fire” appears on Squirrel Nut Zippers’ upcoming album Lost Songs of Doc Souchon (out September 25). It marks the band’s second studio album since reuniting in 2016. Andrew Bird’s latest LP, My Finest Work Yet, arrived in 2019.
