Ciarán Foy Directing Adaptation of ‘American Reaper’ and ‘Reaper Files’ Graphic Novels for Amblin

Horror

Written by Pat Mills and illustrated by Clint Langley, the American Reaper and Reaper Files graphic novels are getting a feature adaptation from Amblin Partners, we’ve learned.

Ciarán Foy (Citadel, Sinister 2, Eli, “The Haunting of Bly Manor”) has been set to direct and also co-write the script with Kyle Ward for Amblin and Intrepid Pictures.

American Reaper is a sci-fi action noir, set in a near future where the aging elite (“Snatchers”) prey upon the young, paying to hijack their bodies in order to prolong their own lives. This extreme form of identity crime has become so rampant on the black market that law enforcement has been forced to create a new division, which the public has nicknamed “Reapers.”

Intrepid principals Trevor Macy and Mike Flanagan will produce the project, with Melinda Nishioka executive producing on behalf of Intrepid. Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler and Alex Francis will also serve as executive producers. Amblin President of Production Jeb Brody will oversee the production for the studio, along with creative executive John Buderwitz.
