Katie Maloney Is Open To Filming A TomTom Spin-Off

Reality TV

Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney is probably pretty happy she does not work at SUR anymore. Unfortunately, Lisa Vanderpump had to shut down her restaurant businesses because of the pandemic. And she even had to permanently close Villa Blanca. On top of that, Lisa was sued for allegedly not paying her employees at SUR. We know Katie was at least getting paid; how else could she afford that over-priced home in Valley Village?

Katie might not be working at SUR, but she is still a part of Pump Rules. And there is a very good chance this show might not come back because a good portion of the cast was fired for racist behavior. Those fired from the show included two of Katie’s best friends, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. With those two out of the picture, this wouldn’t leave much for Katie to do on the show. So with the future of VPR uncertain, what plans does Katie have for moving forward?

In an interview with People, Katie noted that “she would be open to a TomTom spinoff.” This is a fantastic idea. Most VPR fans have felt that the show has worn out it’s welcome. A majority of the original cast, Katie included, don’t even work there anymore. Those first few seasons were next level crazy, and quite frankly, the show never reached that level of entertainment again.

Katie added, “I think in any kind of capacity where we can continue to film a reality show, I feel like that would be really, really fun because obviously I don’t work at Sur anymore. So I don’t have relationships with all the people that work there, anyways.”

You could tell she had no relationships with the newbies. It felt forced and awkward last season when Katie would have random house parties with new SURvers such as Dayna Kathan and Danica Dow in attendance. They all had nothing in common except kissing Lala Kent’s bootie so they could hopefully score a ride on Randall Emmett’s rented PJ. That does not make for entertaining TV.

However, a spin-off of TomTom would make for fun TV. Tom Sandoval and Katie’s husband, Tom Schwartz, had the most authentic relationship on Pump Rules. I could watch them hang out and run point at TomTom all day. Katie could step in and be the voice of reason when the Toms can’t agree on where to hang the newest abnormally large steampunk designed clock in their restaurant.

If the TomTom spin-off doesn’t happen, maybe Katie can jump in and help Lala with doggie duty in the upcoming spin-off for Vanderpump Dogs. Who wouldn’t want to watch cute puppies for an hour? There is also the possibility of another spin-off for Lisa’s restaurant in Vegas, which I am hoping for. Either way, I’m sure Katie will figure out her next move. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her that the TomTom spin-off happens.
