Other Music Documentary Gets Digital Release Date

Music, News

The documentary about beloved New York record store Other Music now has an official digital release date. Other Music will hit Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play, and other streaming services on August 25, following a canceled theatrical run due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film will be distributed by Factory 25. Find the poster for Other Music below.

Other Music was directed and produced by Puloma Basu and Rob Hatch-Miller. It features Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), William Basinski, Animal Collective, Matt Berninger (The National), Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Stephin Merritt (Magnetic Fields), and many others.

Other Music shuttered in 2016 after an influential presence in New York’s indie rock scene of the early 2000s. Of the documentary, former Other Music owner Josh Madell said in a press release, “It’s a story about record stores, sure, but moreover it’s about the power of community, and the changing face of our cities and towns and culture. The film is a joyous celebration of creativity and the people and places that matter in this life. And it feels all the more relevant today.”
