As fans are beginning to wonder what drama will unfold – especially when it comes to Mary Fitzgerald and Jason Oppenhiem’s interesting relationship. Here’s what we know we know about these exes that remain still friends and how other cast members feel about their (unconventional) relationship.
Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald’s relationship has always been an odd one. Before the show aired, the two dated, but were able to break up and remain on very good terms. However, it may be too good of terms now that the exes continue to work together and are starring in a reality TV show. A few cast members have spoken up on how Oppenheim favors Fitzgerald when it comes to clients and listings. Fans were able to see a glimpse of that favoritism in season two when fellow costar, and diva of the group, called out their relationship on the show. So, as we count down the days until the new season, we’re curious to know whether or not this favoritism will cause more backlash. Especially when it comes to who gets first dibs on clients listings in this group of well-manicured luxury realtors.

A few of Selling Sunset’s stars have already revealed a few spoilers on what fans should expect for the upcoming season. And, from what they’ve been saying, it sounds like some drama will stem from Oppenheim and Mary’s relationship. Fan favorite Maya Vander spoke to Metro.co.uk about the exes, and noted “They have a history. It works for Mary because Jason is very generous in helping her with real estate.” She later adds “It is what it is, you’re going to see that in season three.” Even Oppenheim was candid about his relationship with Fitzgerald in a recent interview. Opening up to Express.co.uk about their relationship, Oppenheim says that they both understand that their “situation is unique” and that “many find it hard to be close friends with an ex.” He also adds that: “The way I see it, you choose to be with someone because you love and value that person as a friend. […] just because you break up and are no longer romantically involved shouldn’t mean that you aren’t able to still respect and love that person as a friend.”
Even though Oppenheim and Fitzgerald have a close relationship, Fitzgerald is officially off the market. She married Romain Bonnet in the season finale of season 2 and the newlyweds seem to be still going strong. So, whether or not Oppenheim still has feelings or if they really are just good friends, it seems like Fitzgerald’s heart is with her beloved French husband.
Fans will have to tune in on August 7 to see what type of drama actually goes down and if there is more going on between Oppenheim and Fitzgerald than being “just friends.”
