Music, News

Makaya McCraven has announced a new companion album to his excellent 2018 album Universal Beings. The aptly titled Universal Beings E&F Sides is a collection of 14 “new pieces of organic beat music” that were recorded during the sessions for the album, according to a press release. The music will also soundtrack a new Universal Beings documentary series. Watch the first episode, “Strangers in the City,” below, and check out a new track called “Mak Attack.” The album and doc are out July 31 (via International Anthem); physical editions of E&F Sides will follow on September 25.

Earlier this year, McCraven released We’re New Again: A Reimagining by Makaya McCraven, a reworking of Gil Scott Heron’s final album, I’m New Here. Read the interview “How Makaya McCraven Reimagined Gil Scott-Heron’s Final Album” on the Pitch.
