Unlocking the Rytec AMR in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
The unlock criteria for the Rytec AMR is straight forward. With a Sniper Rifle or a Marksman Rifle, players must get 3 quickscope kills in 15 different matches. For those unaware of the quickscope art form, it is when a sniper aims down their scope and almost immediately fires off a round. The technique is most viable in close/midrange engagements, but a quickscope master can get someone from across the map and through a window all while landing a 360 kick-flip. So let’s safely assume that most players are not Tony Hawk with a Sniper Rifle. What is the best & quickest way to complete this challenge?
For those who own the full game, the best way to complete this challenge is by playing the ‘Shoot the Ship’ playlist. Shipment and Shoot House offer the best close-quarter gunfights in the game while still packing the map with 12 operators. We’re playing with the law of averages for one. Even if one is not good at quickscoping, odds are they’ll rack up the three kills necessary to complete the challenge. For players that only own Warzone, they’ll want to drop into a game of plunder and put the ‘quickscope blinders’ on. It’ll be a grind, but as of right now that is the only ‘free’ way to obtain the Rytec AMR. Alternatively to both of those options, players can purchase the ‘Lost Souls’ bundle for 1200 Cod Points. This will grant them ‘Damnation’, a blueprint of the Rytec AMR, ready for immediate use. (However, players will not be able to level the gun up or unlock any camouflage) For those looking to complete the challenge authentically, here are some valuable tricks to racking up those quickscopes.
Tips & Tricks to completing the Rytec AMR challenge in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
As stated, the challenge can be completed with both Sniper Rifles & Marksman Rifles. Although personal preference plays a large role, it is far easier to quickscope (In terms of this challenge specifically) with either the MK2 Carbine or the Kar 98K. Both guns will offer much-needed mobility and ADS speed while still maintaining a one-shot-one kill potential from the chest up. While in-game, players can keep track of their progress by editing their loadout and scrolling over the Rytec AMR. Players will have to keep track of their quickscopes mentally, however, if they lose count the Rytec will tell them how many more games they must complete. One would be wise not to lose track of which game they’re on though. While playing the close quarters maps, aim down sights at every corner (especially on Shipment) odds are somebody will be rounding it.
Specs for the Rytec AMR in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
With similar mobility to the Ax-50 and HDR, the upside to the Rytec is semi-auto fire. This will allow players to get multiple shots off without having to cock another round. However, the Rytec AMR kicks like a mule, so make that first shot count. Find the right attachments to combat this recoil and players will have themselves a hard-hitting semi-auto death machine. AMR stands for Anti Material Rifle, and that’s exactly what the Rytec will do. The .50 Caliber rounds will shred through walls and vehicles. Coupled with the Explosive and Thermite round attachments, this sniper is a Warzone Helicopter Pilot’s worst enemy. The ammo attachments effectively make the Rytec AMR a one-shot-kill anywhere on the body. A thermite bullet to the baby toe spells bad news for anyone.
Among the new additions to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Call of Duty: Warzone, the Rytec AMR is perhaps the most exciting. Every new weapon comes with its trial period. We’ll see if Activision buffs or nerfs the Rytec in the coming weeks as player feedback pours in about the latest addition to their long-range arsenal.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
