There’s a lot of content in The Last of Us: Part 2, and players may not have the chance to see everything on their first playthrough. With a game that promises to take at least twenty hours to beat, however, once the ending does finally roll around it’s better for players to feel like they have a sense of completion, rather than forcing them to sit on the edge of their seat throughout the credits.

What Happens After The Last Of Us 2’s Ending

The Last of Us Part II Dinah Sleeping

There is no end credits scene in The Last of Us: Part 2. Once the screen cuts to the game’s credits and list of developers, it truly is the end of The Last of Us’ story, at least for right now. However, that doesn’t mean nothing has changed once the game is over, and The Last of Us 2 features a small visual alteration which not only calls back to the original The Last of Us but also shows players just how far they’ve come.

After beating The Last of Us: Part 2, players see a different title screen than they did upon starting up the game originally. At first, the title screen shows players a wooden boat adrift in the ocean at twilight, but after the game has been finished The Last of Us 2’s title screen changes to a scene depicting a boat pushed up against a coastline.

Changing the title screen after the game has been completed is something which also happened in the original The Last of Us, so it’s a nice callback to see it return here in The Last of Us 2. Although the game doesn’t have any official after-credits scene to speak of, players can rest easy knowing that the ending to The Last of Us: Part 2 is so good that one was never needed in the first place.
