When playing with a Necromancer in Diablo 3, it’s a very versatile class with many layers to it and many different ways to take it. Necromancers can make life very easy on the higher tiers for the Greater Rift runs and is a character that can make quick work of opposing forces in unique methods. He is primarily a magic user and has abilities such as Corpse Explosion and Skeletal Mage to keep things exciting.
Speaking on Skeletal Mage, the Necromancer is very similar to the Witch Doctor in terms of abilities where the Witch Doctor can summon creatures as well. The differences between the two of them are that the Necromancer needs to have corpses around to use in the raising of creatures. The Necromancer also has to continuously raise the creatures manually while the Witch Doctor doesn’t make the creature control an important factor in gameplay and how to approach the field. With Season 21 right around the corner, it’s a great time to look over the Necromancer and see what makes that character a force to be reckoned with.
Best Necromancer Skills in Diablo 3
With all the corpses laying on the ground, one of the best skills available in a Necromancer’s arsenal is Corpse Explosion. Pair it with Close Quarters and it becomes a damage machine. Another skill to hone in on is Siphon Blood with Power Shift for tons of damage and healing. Using summoning spells like Skeletal Mage, for the most part, attacks only one enemy at a time but it’s extremely powerful when upgraded. This is also true of the other summoning spells but they should be used more as distractions as the Necromancer should pump out more damage worthy skills. This will allow less damage to get to the Necromancer and throw out skills like Simulacrum and Gift of Death. A useful skill with a dual purpose, Bone Armor can absorb damage and causing it at the same time which comes in handy when getting surrounded. That is one of the strengths of the Necromancer, causing a ton of damage and being able to heal and use his dead enemies against the others. Building corpses is one great way to get the upper hand. One skill that can be sneaky to use is Decrepify that can drag enemies to a halt and strip away their most useful abilities giving the Necromancer a wide birth to kill them at will
Best Necromancer Equipment in Diablo 3
There will be a few best in slots, but it’s important to stick with a particular skill, stay with it, and build upon it. For example, if building around Decreipfy, Dayntee’s Binding works to make the curses give more protection. Choosing the Skeletal Mage path, Circle of Nailuj’s Evol is a good fit. Some are standard no matter which way the build goes such as Leoric’s Crown that helps with cooldown reduction or even having Sythe of the Cycle is a tremendous help when Bone Armor is cast. The important note here is that Ancient or Legendary equipment is the aim and a focus on pairing that equipment with similar skills. It will allow the Necromancer to play closer to the enemies and to be surrounded by corpses. This will lead to many Rift clears and quick work will be made on getting valuable Paragon Points.
Diablo 3 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac.
