RDR2 Mod Trades Horses For Giant Wolf, Cougar, & Boar Mounts

Movies

Players who are tired of riding around on horses now have another option thanks to a new mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 which makes giant cougars, boars, wolves, and other animals into rideable mounts. Modding has always been a popular pastime, especially in the PC gaming community, and players have already created some pretty impressive mods for Red Dead Redemption 2, including one which allows hunters to store multiple large animal carcasses in a special Hunting Wagon, making animal transport over long distances a far less tedious process.

Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games’ latest massive open world epic, is absolutely packed with things for players to do, mysteries (like the disappearing RDR2 squirrel statue) to solve, and, when everything else is exhausted, an online multiplayer world to engage with. While Red Dead Online hasn’t reached the goals set by its incredibly popular predecessor Grand Theft Auto Online, the game still retains a large, dedicated player base which, thankfully, isn’t currently filled with people dressed up as aliens.

Thanks to a recent mod which is currently being developed by prominent Rockstar Games modder JulioNIB and visible on his Patreon page (thanks, PC Gamer) players in Red Dead Redemption 2 now have a few more options if they want to make their version of the Wild West a little more wild. Aptly named “Pig Rider,” the mod creates giant versions of boars, cougars, and wolves for Arthur Morgan to ride around on. It also includes rideable bears, but they appear to have remained at normal size. However, judging from the clip (featured on JulioNIB’s page) below, it also appears they can be used to attack enemies. Check it out:

Currently the mod isn’t quite finished yet, but JulioNIB has assured fans on his Twitter account that it will be pre-released soon. Players who are interested in this Red Dead Redemption 2 mod should check out JulioNIB’s Patreon page, as people who donate will be able to play with the rideable giants themselves before it the mod is released to the public.

It’s no secret that most players are fond of their horses in Red Dead Redemption 2, but the long travel times between missions can find people staring at the butts of their mounts for minutes on end, and after a lengthy journey it would just be nice to look at a different kind of butt for a while. Although riding around on a giant wolf or a boar may not be the most realistic (or safe) thing to do, it’s hard to look at the clip above and not want to try out riding a bear or a giant pig in Red Dead Redemption 2 at least once.
