John Prine Tribute Announced: The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, Kevin Morby, More

Consequence of Sound has announced Angel from Maywood: A Livestream Tribute to John Prine. The homage to Prine, who died earlier this week, will feature performances by the Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, Kevin Morby, the Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle, Grace Potter, Norah Jones, the Head and the Heart, Lake Street Dive, and more. The tribute will stream on Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m. Eastern on CoS’ Instagram account.

According to CoS, the livestream will benefit three Nashville-based non-profits: Nashville Rescue Mission, Room in the Inn, and Thistle Farms, to honor the wishes of Prine’s wife Fiona Whelan Prine.

Prine died on April 7 of COVID-19 complications. He was 73 years old. Following Prine’s death, countless genre-spanning artists wrote words of remembrance on social media for the beloved artist, including Bon Iver, Bruce Springsteen, Margo Price, and more.
