Empyre: The Kree/Skrull Army Is Heading To Earth To DESTROY It

Movies

The Kree and Skrull have always been longtime enemies in the pages of Marvel Comics. However, they will surprisingly join forces in the upcoming Empyre event under Hulking to accomplish one common goal: To get to Earth and “destroy a common enemy.”

Marvel’s next big event has just begun, as Empyre sees the Kree and Skrull strike a surprising alliance under the former Young Avenger Hulkling. Since Hulking is the first child to be born with both Kree and Skrull parentage, he’s named the Dorrek VIII, the leader of both races. It hasn’t been revealed what the Kree/Skrull empire’s reasoning for attacking Earth will be, however, in the new one-shot Road to Empyre: The Kree Skrull War, it’s revealed the alliance is on its way to Earth.

In Road to Empyre: The Kree Skrull War #1 by Robbie Thompson, Mattia De Iulis, Javier Rodriguez, Alvaro Lopez, and VC’s Joe Caramagna, the Warner family is back. As some of the last remaining Skrulls on Earth, the book shows the younger Warner’s learning about the history of the Kree/Skrull War. They learn about how the Skrulls were pacifists before the Kree killed the Cotati and the Skrulls, including the original Dorrek. They also learn about the Celestial Madonna and her son, the Celestial Messiah. While the younger Warner’s discover this information, the hotel they are staying at is blown-up by a Kree. The Warner’s chase the bomber and intercept a message from Hulkling to the Kree – where they also learn more about his history.

As the mother Gloria follows the Kree bomber into his home, she discovers him eating dinner with his family. Realizing that he’s in a similar position that she is in, she puts down her weapon. That’s when Hulkling sends out a message to both the Kree and Skrulls, saying that the two armadas have joined in efforts to destroy a common enemy. The issue ends with a hologram of Hulking saying the alliance and their armies are flying to Earth.

The revelation the Kree/Skrull are on their way to Earth isn’t good news for the planet. While it’s unclear the exact reason Hulkling would be willing to attack the planet he was raised and found love on, it seems his intentions are to take out the planet as a whole. The Kree and Skrull both have tangled with the inhabitants and heroes of Earth many times. Still uniting against the planet is a shocking move with huge repercussions. We’ll find out more of Hulkling’s plans during the upcoming Empyre event.
