Sons Of Anarchy season 5 episode 5 introduced Walton Goggins’ Venus Van Dam, while Jax feels the pressure of being leader. Sons Of Anarchy follows outlaw bike gang SAMCRO, which is led by Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) when the show begins, but Charlie Hunnam’s Jax is the main character. Jax’s father co-founded the club while his mother Gemma is married to Clay. Each season of Sons Of Anarchy dialed up the intensity, as internal club politics and feuds with law enforcement and rival gangs typically ended in bloodshed.
Sons Of Anarchy was created by Kurt Sutter (The Shield) and was inspired by Hamlet. Bleak as the series could be, it also featured great characters and writing, alongside several shocking twists. The show came to an end in 2014 after seven seasons, though Sutter would go on to create a spinoff with Mayans M.C. The latter show has run for two seasons thus far, with a third being greenlit.

Sons Of Anarchy season 5 episode 5 “Orca Shrugged” acted as a reunion for Sutter and Shield star Walton Goggins (Justified). A major storyline in this episode brings back the Charming Heights development project from season 4, which Jax wants to push ahead for the sake of an important deal with Mayor Hale. To that end, SAMCRO drug a member of the city council who is going to vote against Hale’s Charming Heights plan. While the councilman is unconscious they dress him up in S&M gear and bring in Venus Van Dam, a transexual prostitute, to take some compromising photos.
The gang seems to have a good time with the sheer bizarreness of the scheme, while Goggins is given some great lines. Tig is also smitten with her and Venus would be given further development down the road. Jax later takes the photos to Mayor Hale and it seems his plan will work out. Elsewhere on Sons Of Anarchy season 5 episode 5, SAMCRO has to deal with the Irish Kings’ Galen again, with the latter having a profound dislike of Jax following the events of past seasons. He’s not happy with the news Jax is now the club’s president after Clay was replaced, with the latter being needed to keep things peaceful. Jax and Galan eventually hash it out with a bit of bare-knuckle fighting.
While Sons Of Anarchy season 5 episode 5 is a little lighter in tone compared to other episodes from the season, there’s still plenty of drama. Gemma’s self-destructive impulses continue, and she’s especially unhappy to learn Jax has forbidden a relationship between her and Nero (Jimmy Smits). Jax is also feeling the crushing weight of being club president, where every day seems to bring some horrible new mess for him to clean up.
