The Masked Singer Reveals Bear’s Identity | Screen Rant

The final group of six disguised celebrities graced the stage hit The Masked Singer stage. Group C included the last six singers: Astronaut, Bear, Night Angel, Rhino, Swan, and T-Rex. The Masked Singer that was sent packing was the fluffy pink Bear, who was revealed to be one of the most “polarizing” politicians of our time – former Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin.

This Wednesday, Fox’s hit music competition The Masked Singer heated up with performances from the never before seen group C. The panelists, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke, gave their best guesses as to who they believed was the singer behind the mask. The host Nick Cannon revealed that between the celebrity singers in group C, they have one Guinness World Record, two New York Times bestsellers and 36 gold records. Season 3 has brought some of the toughest competition and some of the biggest names so far. Unfortunately, Bear’s female version of “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot was the least favorite performance of the night and Bear was forced to reveal her true identity.

In the first elimination of group C, Bear was revealed to be American politician, author, and the ninth governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. The 56-year-old Republican vice presidential candidate of John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign. Fans in the audience of The Masked Singer had no idea they were listening to the former governor belt out the raunchy 90’s song so it came as a huge surprise when she was unveiled. The panalists thought at first it might be Sarah Palin’s SNL impersonater, comedian Tina Fey as she turned her back to the audience as she put on her signiture glasses.

The clues for Bear were very deceiving. Some of the clues were a “Home Sweet Home” doormat, “live” sign on the Saturday of a calendar (a nod to her SNL impersonator Tina Fey), a radio, and ice skates, a hand of playing cards that were a full house. The cards could indicate that she has a “full house” with her five children and five grandchildren. She mentioned her family in the clues, saying, “This mama bear is coming out of hibernation,” and mentioned that she finally “found the courage to come out of [her] cave to stop hiding and face the world head on.”

Once Palin was unmasked, she revealed that bear was her nickname when she was growing up. Then there’s the obvious that bears are native to Alaska, and that she’s a mama bear. She revealed that the costume helped take the edge off while performing, however, being dressed as a bear singing Sir-Mix-A-Lot was “the weirdest thing I’ve ever done, thats for sure.” Palin revealed that her intention was to have fun and bring unity, as she said that it’s “something that our country needs right now.”

Palin, the former governor and vice-presidential candidate, isn’t shy when it comes to her opinion, however, it was a huge change for her to sing and rap on stage. Though Palin doesn’t normally shy away from cameras and even reality TV – with her former TLC show Sarah Palin’s Alaska - she seemed to really step out of her comfort zone to appear on The Masked Singer and she really seeemed to enjoy herself!
