James Wan Producing a Monster Movie for Universal Studios!

Horror

In the direct wake of frequent collaborator Leigh Whannell hitting a home run for Universal with The Invisible Man (now playing in theaters, don’t miss it!), we’ve learned tonight via THR that James Wan is now developing a monster movie for Universal Studios!

Robbie Thompson (“Supernatural”) is writing the script, and Wan will be producing through Atomic Monster. According to THR, the plan is not for Wan to direct the untitled film.

“Sources say the story takes its cues from Universal’s classic monster legacy and shines it through a modern prism.”

“With shades of Disturbia, the story will focus on a group of teens who discover that a neighbor is building a monster in his basement. Spoiler: the monster gets loose.”

Sounds a bit like Frankenstein, eh…?

Other monster movies in the works from Universal include Paul Feig’s Dark Army, Dexter Fletcher’s Renfield, Matt Stawski’s Monster Mash, and Elizabeth Banks’s The Invisible Woman.
