Hogwarts Houses Of Roswell, New Mexico Characters | ScreenRant

Movies

When Roswell premiered in 1999, there weren’t too many fans who thought it would get a reboot 20 years later. CW’s Roswell, New Mexico reimagines the teen drama as a more adult show, set a decade after the events of high school. Still in tact are the aliens and humans at the center of a science fiction conspiracy.

In 1999, Roswell premiered before Harry Potter fans began heavily debating their own Hogwarts houses. 20 years later, Hogwarts houses are a bit more common knowledge, allowing us to analyze just where the sorting hat would place these new versions of characters in Roswell, New Mexico if they attended Hogwarts.

10 Alex Manes: Ravenclaw

Alex Manes has a lot of interests in the series. A war veteran who primarily joined the armed forces out of a sense of familial obligation, he’s also got a healthy interest in music and technology.

Alex uses both of those to uncover some truths about aliens in the series, but he doesn’t do it out of malicious intent. He’s genuinely curious about the information he uncovers. Alex even attempts to help Michael with his research into spacecraft. Before he’s involved in the alien secret, however, Alex is also more observant than most, understanding that there’s something going on with his high school friends before they let him in. He’s certainly a Ravenclaw.

9 Kyle Valenti: Gryffindor

Kyle Valenti In Roswell New Mexico Gryffindor

Kyle spent a lot of his teenage years feeding his ego and giving into a bad attitude. While he could be a good guy, more often than not, he acted like a bully. As Kyle has matured, however, he’s changed for the better.

Kyle is now a doctor who just wants to save lives. He originally, by his own admission, decided he wanted to save lives for the glory of it. He keeps searching for that heroic high. Kyle has a good heart though, wanting to keep people safe – even if those people are aliens. He just allows his emotions to lead him into trouble a few times too many. Kyle sorts right into Gryffindor.

8 Isobel Evans: Hufflepuff

Isobel Evans In Roswell New Mexico Hufflepuff

Isobel’s carefully crafted exterior and picture-perfect life could make some believe she’s suited to Slytherin. She’s not, however, intentionally a schemer, and she doesn’t have ambitions that would make her a powerful person in Roswell.

Instead, Isobel is concerned first with her family. The idea of Max or Michael leaving her behind devastates her because she’s so focused on her connection to the two of them. In addition to that connection, Isobel also loses herself in her work. A lot of that work is in the form of keeping the town running through community events and fundraising drives. She might be one of the hardest working characters in the series. Isobel lands in Hufflepuff.

7 Maria DeLuca: Ravenclaw

Maria DeLuca In Roswell New Mexico Ravenclaw

There’s a reason so many psychics in the Harry Potter series are sorted into Ravenclaw. They’re the characters open to the universe, the ones who think outside the box.

That’s exactly who Maria is. She might be faking ten dollar palm readings at the Wild Pony to make extra cash, but Isobel having difficulty getting into Maria’s head proves that Maria has some real power. Despite her wild child ways, Maria also cared about keeping up with studies as a kid, and she’s observant enough to know that something is up with Max, Michael, and Isobel, even if she’s not entirely sure what.

6 Noah Bracken: Hatstall

Noah Bracken In Roswell New Mexico Gryffindor Slytherin

Noah begins his time on the series as a doting husband. He wants to be Isobel’s person – or so he says. In reality, he’s an alien just like Isobel, Max, and Michael, and he’s been using his abilities for much longer.

Noah is an interesting character because he is generally someone who follows his emotions wherever they lead him. Impulsively, he uses Isobel’s body to house his own power when her emotional state calls out for help as a child. He later falls for Rosa Ortecho through Isobel’s eyes. His emotional path – and his tendency to always think himself right – makes him seem like a fit for Gryffindor.

The fact that Noah is drawn to darkness, however, and that he spends most of a decade pretending to be someone he’s not in order to hide Rosa’s body away speaks to his more Slytheirn nature. As a result, Noah would likely have to choose his house once the sorting hat is on his head. As he believes himself the hero of his own story, would he choose Gryffindor, or would he allow his ambition to sway him to Slytherin? The truth is, fans don’t get the chance to know his true character well enough to determine his conversation with the sorting hat, which is why he’s a hatstall.

5 Jenna Cameron: Hufflepuff

Jenna Cameron In Roswell New Mexico Hufflepuff

It’s not clear how much Jenna Cameron will appear in season two, if at all, since actress Riley Voelkel recurred in the first season as a result of possible job commitments elsewhere. With her appearances in the freshman season, the sorting hat is comfortable placing her in Hufflepuff.

One of the first times she appears, she tells Max it’s their job to follow orders, like the soldier background she has. Max disagrees. Deputy Cameron isn’t completely blindly loyal to the job, but she comes pretty close. She is also willing to feed Project Shepherd information about her friends – and the guy she cares about – in order to protect her sister.

4 Max Evans: Gryffindor

Max Evans In Roswell New Mexico Gryffindor

Max Evans is the archetypal hero. He was in the original series, and he is in Roswell, New Mexico. He might not always think of himself that way, but Max cannot help but try to do the right thing all the time – though his right thing isn’t always what everyone else believes is right.

Max is strong in his convictions, and though he tries to put his emotions aside, he nearly always ends up allowing them to light his path. He couldn’t belong to any house other than Gryffindor.

3 Michael Guerin: Hufflepuff

Michael Guerin In Roswell New Mexico Hufflepuff

Though Michael is smarter than just about anyone in Roswell, he isn’t really interested in learning anything and everything about the world around him. Instead, his focus is pretty singular. Michael learns as much as he can as long as it relates to helping him find out more about his own alien heritage or how to get the pieces of his spaceship back together.

That’s because his heritage, and a sense of belonging, are what are really most important to him. He acts out because he’s unhappy with the life he lives, not because he’s intentionally a troublemaker. Michael is a Hufflepuff willing to put in all the work to get himself closer to his family.

2 Rosa Ortecho: Gryffindor

Rosa Ortecho In Roswell New Mexico Gryffindor

Most of what we’ve seen of Rosa occurs in flashbacks to the last year of her life. At 19, she’s been through more than most. Self medicating with drugs and alcohol, her life spiraled, despite her wanting to get clean.

Rosa wasn’t fearless, but she wanted the world to see her that way. She stood up for what she believed in, and encouraged her sister to do the same. Rosa was a rebel who was determined to find her own path to adventure. It will be interesting to see if the Rosa fans meet in season two is the same Gryffindor that Liz remembers.

1 Liz Ortecho: Ravenclaw

Liz Ortecho In Roswell New Mexico Ravenclaw

Some might cite Liz’s search for her sister’s real killer, and her leaving Roswell for a new adventure, as very Gryffindor traits. Her leaving Roswell, however, iss born out of fear and a mental push from Isobel. Liz’s search for Rosa’s killer is also born out of a need to find the truth and loyalty to her family. As Liz points out pretty early in the series though, her superpower is her brain. She’s all Ravenclaw.

Liz’s interest in science and how the world works in school translates to a career path as a biomedical engineer and researcher. She wants to make the world a better place through knowledge. Liz is adept enough in her field to even create a serum that halts the abilities of the aliens in her life. She’s also smart enough to put all the pieces together about Rosa’s death when no one else has before her.
