Capcom Reveals New Maps, More Masterminds For ‘Resident Evil Resistance’

Horror

With the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake right around the corner, it seems that the bundled content in the form of the asymmetric multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance has taken a backseat for some. Capcom has remedied that by revealing two new maps for the game, as well as the “Masterminds” in the non-canon story.

The first map is the Abandoned Park, which is described as “A horror-themed park located on the outskirts of Raccoon City. It too was left abandoned when zombies and bioweapons overran Raccoon City.” The second is the Casino, “An entertainment facility for thrill seekers… and insidious Masterminds. Its still-operating slot machines and chips strewn across the floor tell the eerie tale of how hastily it was deserted during the collapse of Raccoon City.”

As for the Masterminds (who are the “one” in the “one versus four”), Alex Wesker returns from Resident Evil Revelations 2, and emphasizes the use of traps when it comes to her playstyle, while also manipulating the map to slow Survivors down with roadblocks and enhanced zombies. Alex can also use a vicious carnivorous plant called Yateveo, which while stationary, is “a powerful obstruction that keeps Survivors from their objective of escaping.”

Along with Alex is Ozwell E. Spencer, the shadowy antagonist in the Resident Evil series. Ozwell uses Umbrella Corporation’s cutting edge technology to torment Survivors. Unlike other Masterminds who summon controllable bioweapons, Ozwell instead generates a Disintegration Field that severely damages any Survivor who passes through it.

Resident Evil Resistance is included with Resident Evil 3, which is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3.
