Singer Demi Lovato candidly recounted the moment she came out as sexually fluid to her parents in a radio interview Thursday.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer, a longtime LGBT+ advocate, revealed in 2017 that she was open to dating women, saying: “That’s how I’ve always felt.”
Speaking to SiriusXM host, Andy Cohen, Lovato said that the moment she told her family her truth it was “emotional, but really beautiful”.
Demi Lovato: ‘Women, we don’t need partners to, you know, amen!’
“After everything was done, I was, like, shaking and crying, and I just felt overwhelmed,” she said.
“My dad was like, ‘Yeah, obviously.’
“And I was like, ‘Oh, OK, dad.’
“My mom was the one that I was, like, super nervous about, but she was just like, ‘I just want you to be happy,’” Lovato said, quipping her “Cool for the Summer” lyrics.
“That was so beautiful and amazing, and like I said, I’m so grateful.”
With both parents being super supportive of her, the question then landed on whether Lovato, 27, will be starting a family of her own.
She replied: “I don’t know what my future looks like.
“I don’t know if I’m going to have kids this year or in 10 years.
“I don’t know if I’m going to do it with a partner or without.
“Women, we don’t need partners to, you know, amen!”
