Grammys 2020: Lizzo Wins Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”

Music, News

Lizzo has won the 2020 Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts.” She won the award over Beyoncé (“Spirit”), Billie Eilish (“bad guy”), Ariana Grande (“7 rings”), and Taylor Swift (“You Need to Calm Down”).

Lizzo picked up more Grammy nominations this year than any other artist with eight total, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and R&B Performance. In addition to Best Pop Solo Performance, she’s won Traditional R&B Performance, and Urban Contemporary Album. Earlier in the night, she performed a medley of songs from her album Cuz I Love You.

Lizzo’s song “Truth Hurts” has been the subject of a songwriting dispute in recent months. Read about it in “Who Wrote ‘Truth Hurts’? Who Knows?” on the Pitch.
