Although we are only a little over a week away from the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, some people are still trying to dig for spoilers to find out how the Skywalker Saga ends and the answers to the Sequel Trilogy’s most pressing questions. One of those people is Frozen II actor Josh Gad, who has made a habit of harassing his Murder on the Orient Express co-star Daisy Ridley for Star Wars spoilers. Now he’s trying one more time. Watch Josh Gad’s final, star-studded attempt at Star Wars spoilers from Daisy Ridley in the video below.
Despite failing in all of his previous, repeated attempts to elicit Star Wars spoilers from Daisy Ridley (and Lupita Nyong’o), going back to two years ago in advance of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Josh Gad remains undeterred. The lesson he apparently took from Daisy Ridley’s unwillingness to crack was that he just had to try harder and that he simply wasn’t thinking big enough. So to find out the secrets of the all-important Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Josh Gad adopted a new strategy.
As you can see in the video from his Twitter account, Josh Gad went all out here, trying to overwhelm Daisy Ridley with both volume and star power. The thinking must have been that he could keep peppering her with questions to make 1000 cuts at her impenetrable wall of secrecy. He was also looking to throw her off guard by employing other famous actors, including actors she is a fan of and has worked with.
And man, did Josh Gad get a lot of actors to help him out with this, many of whom were probably nearby given how many of them are also starring in current and upcoming Disney properties. Josh Gad enlists Anna Kendrick, Tony Hale, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Ben Feldman, Aisha Tyler, Tina Fey, Salma Hayek, Jonathan Groff, Brian Tyree Henry, Questlove, Randall Park and Emily VanCamp.
Daisy Ridley’s Chaos Walking co-star and MCU Spider-Man Tom Holland also wants answers. Josh Gad even gets a few Star Wars traitors who should really know better, like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Alan Tudyk and Diego Luna, Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Paul Bettany, and The Mandalorian’s Gina Carano and Pedro Pascal to help.
Hey, we all want answers, including John Boyega, who apparently forgot he already knew them. J.J. Abrams also pops his head in to tell Daisy Ridley to stay strong. Wow J.J., great note.
Their questions range from the absurd to the crucial. When Josh Gad first comes up to Daisy Ridley, she already knows what he’s going to ask before he even says it and immediately shuts him down. He disagrees and launches into a question that is actually one of the same ones that he asked before Star Wars: The Last Jedi: who are Rey’s parents?
Despite that question seemingly being answered in the last film, it remains a compelling mystery and one we’ve been assured we’ll get clarity on in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. All in all, it was a valiant attempt by Josh Gad and company, but Daisy Ridley remains unmoved, exhibiting a Jedi-like zen and force of will that will hopefully carry her character Rey to victory in The Rise of Skywalker.
It’s also worth noting that Josh Gad gets in a Game of Thrones reference, another beloved and long-running fantasy story that came to dominate pop culture. All I can say is that hopefully The Rise of Skywalker delivers a better ending than that show did.
