Thanks for taking time to chat with us today! Your new song Rule is wonderfully unique! How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

Thank you for the opportunity and for the kind words, that means a lot!

I’d describe it as a portal to another universe, a window to my soul. It’s raw, intimate, spacey, tropical, romantic, and simplistic yet detailed.

Every song is very intimate to me, and my goal is to have people relating to my stories, use my voice as theirs, and to take them to another space, into this universe inside my head.

What has been your favorite part of the creative process this far with putting out new music?

Besides the music itself, honestly, creating the visuals for it. My songs are all directly related to my visuals, and every time I sit down to edit a picture, I have a thousand new ideas for new material that can represent that song. My creation goes from lyrics, production, singing, to the music video, photoshoot, and publicity material.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

From my generation, Taylor Swift, even though my songs go a little off line from her genre, specially the new ones I’ll be releasing. Taylor was a huge part of my teenage years, what she did and was to me, is what I want to do and be to people. She’s an extraordinary woman that I admire as an artist and entrepreneur. Taylor has been an inspiration, a voice to my feelings, and she definitely gave me the courage to leave my country at 17, on my own, and pursue my passion, making me believe in myself, and my talent.

Who and where was your first concert experience? What impact if any did that have on you as a musician now?

I grew up in church and performing at huge church events, so my first one was definitely an unknown gospel singer, that I don’t remember haha But the first memorable one was Jonas Brothers, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2009. I was young, and it was the first band I was a fan of that I saw live, I traveled to see them, they brought me into this world of theirs, and I remember watching them and having an insight, realising that there’s nothing in this world I wanted to do more than music.

Tell us what you like to do in your free time outside of music.

I love any kind of art and learning, so I’m always chasing that. It inspires me and opens my mind to other worlds, making my art broader, and more likely to catch every kind of eye. I’m a huge fan of movies, books, design, and much more!
A very important factor in my life is my family, so I always try to spend as much time with them as possible.

Where can we find you on IG?

You can find me @itisjuliah. I love sharing all my creations over there, so I hope you enjoy the ride!

Much love from the girl on the moon – Juliah.
