ReelBlend #94: Rian Johnson Talks Knives Out, Chris Evans And Star Wars

Movies

Happy Thanksgiving, Blenders! There is so much for us to be thankful for this holiday season, particularly at the theater, where our celebration of all things Knives Out continues. Last week, co-star Jamie Lee Curtis sat down with Kevin for an extended conversation about the movie, her career and her collaboration with director Rian Johnson. And this week, we have Johnson himself, which is an excellent conversation.

In addition to the Knives Out interviews, both Sean and Jake managed to see 1917 this week, and discuss it briefly (without spoilers). The war movie is done in one continuous shot by director Sam Mendes and cinematographer Roger Deakins. How did they pull it off?

The guys also discussed this week’s Weekly Poll, which was about anticipated December titles. While Sean thought something like 1917 or Uncut Gems could get more love, they were buried by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Understood. Speaking of, did you see that nostalgic video that Lucasfilm dropped? It’s worth your time.

The review section of this week’s episode falls to Queen & Slim, as well as Knives Out. Basically, see both. And then the Blend Game this week was dedicated to murder mystery movies, in honor of Knives Out. Basically, we’re big fans of Rian’s movie.
